The National Hockey League (NHL) will utilize 1080 Motion technology for two new assessments at the 2026 Combine held in Buffalo NY in June. The tests introduce objective measures of speed and lower-body strength to support the next generation of talent identification. The tests will be conducted using their motorized resistance equipment, the 1080 Sprint 2 and the 1080 Squat, providing precise loading and real-time performance data for some of the world’s top hockey prospects.
New Combine Assessments Utilizing 1080 Motion
-10-Meter Sprint using the 1080 Sprint 2 with 3kg of motorized resistance, measuring sprint time and speed
-Isokinetic Squat Strength using the 1080 Squat, measuring isokinetic force relative to body weight
These assessments represent world-class collaboration and development for the protocol design, hardware, and software to provide these solutions to the NHL’s Central Scouting department.
